FIFA Associated Continents, Member Countries, World Cup Slots and Total number of Qualified Teams - EnyinnaVictorBlog.
Since France 1998, FIFA World Cup is expected to feature at total number of 32 Finalists (Team/Countries) from six different member continents follows;
FIFA Associated Continent and Number of Members:
1. AFC (Asia): with Forty-Five plus one (45+1) Members.
2. CAF (Africa): with Fifty-Four (54) Members.
3. CONCACAF (North and Central America and The Caribbean): with Forty (40) Members.
4. CONMEBOL (South America): with Ten (10) Members.
5. OFC (Oceania): With Seven (7) Members.
6. UEFA (Europe): with Fifty-Five (55) Members.
FIFA has a total number of Two Hundred and Eleven Association Members spread across these six continents with Saint Lucia, North Korea and others withdrawal due to Covid 19 and other related issue.
Prior to qualification match as discussed by FIFA Executive Committee in 2015 to continue with the slots to associated Continents as used in 2006, 2010, 2014, 2018 to 2022. To that effect, the required slots for member Continents to make up to the 32 total required teams to feature at the tournament, are as follows;
FIFA World Cup 2022 Slots;
1. Host: 1 Slot (Qatar).
2. AFC (Asia): 4 or 5 Slots.
3. CAF (Africa): 5 Slots.
5. CONCACAF (North and Central America and the Caribbean): 3 or 4 Slots.
6. CONMEBOL (South America): 4 or 5 Slots.
7. OFC (Oceania): 1 Slot.
8. UEFA (Europe): 13 Slots.
A total of 31 + 1 Slots available.
FIFA as at yesterday 29th March 2022 seen the total number qualifications of countries standing at Twenty-Seven (27) from Host (1), UEFA (12 out of 13), AFC (4 out of 4), CAF (5 out of 5), CONMEBOL (4 out of 4), CONCACAF (1 Of 4) and OFC (0 out of 1) They Qualified Teams include:
1. Host: Qatar (Automatic)
2. AFC: Iran, South Korea, Saudi Arabia and Japan.
3. CAF: Senegal, Ghana, Cameroun, Tunisia and Morocco.
4. CONCACAF: Canada.
5. CONMEBOL: Brazil, Argentina, Ecuador and Uruguay.
6. UEFA: Germany, Denmark, Belgium, France, Croatia, Spain, Serbia, Switzerland, England, Netherlands, Portugal and Poland.
7. OFC: None.
So far, Five (5) more countries are yet to join to Round up the thirty-Two (32) required total number...
